The International Association of Ear Piercing Market Specialists (EPM) – Internationaler Verband der Ohrlochstech-Spezialisten e.V. – represent the interests of the manufacturers and distributors of ear piercing systems in politics, economy and the general public.

The purpose of the association includes:

a) representation of the interests of the manufacturers and distributors of ear piercing systems towards legislative bodies, ministries, administrative authorities, public and private entities as well as towards the general public, including without limitation the press and the media; the Association may, in this connection, provide information, prepare opinions and/or afford assistance.

b) to inform the public about topics of interest to the manufacturers and distributors of ear piercing systems and about the formation of opinion in the industry, and to thus increase public reputation.

c) to inform consumers about ear piercing products and systems as per the current state of the art.

The association advises and represents its members in the context of political lobbying and with regard to current EU regulations and national legislation on ear piercing. It also offers its members information on current topics and a platform for professional dialogue. The EPM is available to legislators and consumers as an expert point of contact.

The use of hygienic ear piercing products has already been ensured in many European countries. The EPM has worked together with the responsible health ministries, supported them with specialised information and practical experience and provided information on important issues. As a result, laws and guidelines have been drafted and adopted that protect consumers and provide users of ear piercing systems with an appropriate, practicable legal basis.
